C11. Conceptual Understanding/Experience/Dictionary/Deductive
Description:
This lesson will help students develop a deeper understanding of presidential candidate experience. Students are provided the dictionary entries and asked to select 3 cases that are good illustrations of each entry, and then explain how the cases are sort of different from each other
To Teachers:
- Read the Roget Thesaurus entry - "Experience". (Whole class activity)
- Create groups of 3 to 4 students.
- Assign each group an election year.
- Give each group a worksheet.

Worksheet Instructions:
- Go to EASE History -- http://www.easehistory.org/
- Search on "Experience" in EASE History. [Campaign Ads Menu>Pres. Leadership Attributes>Positive>Experience]
- Examine at least 12 cases that have been coded on "Experience".
- Column 1: Select three cases that are a good match with the dictionary entry.
- Column 2: A dictionary entry of "Experience" has been provided.
- Column 3: Briefly explain in two or three sentences how the cases (about the dictionary entry) are sort of different from each other.
