C1. Comparing and Contrasting Campaign Ads

Description:
This lesson will help students compare presidential campaign ads. Students will practice placing events in context and looking at events from multiple perspectives.

To Teachers:

  • Select EASE History Campaign Ads topic/theme. The 1964 campaign is used in this example.
  • Create groups of 3 to 4 students.
  • Give each group a worksheet.

Materials:
Worksheet1 Word document | PDF
Worksheet2 Word document | PDF

Worksheet Instructions:

  • Go to EASE History -- http://www.easehistory.org/
  • Search on the 1964 campaign ads in EASE History. [EASE History Campaign Ads>Year>1964]
  • Select two ads from the 1964 campaign. (In EASE History ads are also called cases.)
  • Place the ads side by side in EASE History. [Compare Mode]
  • Complete the Historical Thinking Guide.
