H8. Defining Moments/Decades

Description:
This lesson will help students develop a survey tool to investigate the defining moments of a decade.

To Teachers:

  • Create groups of 3-4 students.
  • Give each group a worksheet.

Materials:
Worksheet Word document | PDF

Worksheet Instructions:

  • Create a survey instrument that will ask participants for general background information (age, sex, etc.) and have them rank order the defining moments of your assigned decade/topic.
  • Go to EASE History -- http://www.easehistory.org/
  • Search on Decade. [EASE History Historical Events>Decades]
  • Select between 10 and 20 events that you think are the defining moments of the decade.
  • Collect data. (Ask relatives, teachers, members of the community, fellow students.)
  • Crunch the data.
  • Represent data in multiple formats. (Bar graph, pie chart, etc.)
